Fun stuff

Just a list of tools I use and people I follow with interest.

Software

  • Obsidian
Serverless, future-proof note-taking app based on Markdown
  • Visual Studio Code
I can't believe such a good software is made by Microslop (I know, I should switch NeoVim or Zed)
  • Rhino/Grasshopper
Advanced 3D modelling software, parametric and very code-friendly
  • Blender
3D creation suite, powerful, parametric and one of the brightest open source projects
  • Affinity
Vector and raster design software, very well crafted (hopefully Gimp/Inkscape will eventually become as good)

Python libraries

  • Streamlit
Interactive web app framework, help me greatly to learn more advanced Python, by being the "Lego" set of my coding life
  • pandas
A powerful Python library for data manipulation and analysis, essential for datasets

Social media

I have not been very active on social media for most of the last decade.

Early Facebook and YouTube were goofy and fun: people shared their lives in a genuine way and did not seem to take themselves too seriously.

Instagram brought a nauseating level of narcissism that soon spread everywhere else like a virus.

Then another horrible virus arrived, the woke mind virus: it poisoned most of the world and surely our social media.
An unprecedented war on free speech in the Western world has been running since then.

Twitter was probably the most disgusting example of censoring practices at levels only seen in dictatorial regimes.

This seems to be finally reaching an end with the death of the old Twitter and its rebirth through X.

If I want to post anything, I will do it on this website or on X.
I may occasionally post on YouTube or LinkedIn, though I really do not like how they are currently run.

Hello!

This tiny new website will allow me to share ideas with the rest of the world.

I am an architect passionate about coding; I have fun with it in my personal life and it is part of my work.
I will share some projects of mine here, mostly around computational design, studying/visualizing data, automating tasks.

I built this website using Python, Flask, and Pico; it is self-hosted and it is running on a Raspberry Pi in my laundry room.

At the moment, the social media landscape feels quite depressing; perhaps it is the perfect time to have one’s own self-hosted digital presence.
